HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION
Established in 1970, the Historic District Commission (HDC), is the mechanism for monitoring and preserving the integrity and beauty of the Exeter Historic Districts.
The HDC serves to: Safeguard the architectural heritage of the Town. Preserve elements of the communities architectural, cultural, social, economic and political history. Conserve property values. Foster civic pride. Promote the use of the historic districts for the education, pleasure and welfare of the citizens of Exeter.
Seven member commission, including one selectman serving concurrent with term of office, and a member of the Planning Board, appointed by the Board of Selectmen, and four alternates (effective 3/90), to three year terms, as provided by RSA 673:5 III.
